The Watermelon is thought to have originated from Southern Africa where it could be found growing wild it is now grown in a number of countries around the world, The first recorded watermelon harvest occurred nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt. The skin of a watermelon is various shades of dark green, the inside flesh is a vivid red colour with medium to large brown or black seeds. It contains 6% sugar and 92% water and is a good source of Vitamin C.
